Advanced pEEG Symposium
9:30am - 12:30pm
Workshop Tutors: Dr Mark Barley & Dr Tom Blanks
Due to overwhelming popularity the format for the Advanced EEG session has changed to accommodate more delegates. Rather than a small group workshop, the session is lecture format with ample opportunity for discussion, questions and the usual top quality brain banter. We look forward to, and encourage interaction from all participants.
Covering: Revision of density spectral array and drug effects. The EEG in the aging and developing brains. Burst suppression and brain vulnerability. EEG sensor placement and montages. Pro:Con of all pEEG systems. Recommendations for set up and interpretation. Clinical cases will be used throughout. It is anticipated that participants routinely use pEEG in their practice and are familiar with the basic terminology and pattern recognition of raw and processed EEG parameters.
Introduction to pEEG
9:30am - 12:30pm
Workshop Tutors: Dr Susan Williams & Dr Andrew Ling
The intention of the workshop is to cover the relevant electrophysiology of the brain, how the drugs we give as anaesthetists (including volatiles!) alter the EEG and how the evolution of pEEG is allowing anaesthetists to increase their confidence in delivering safe and personalised anaesthesia to their patients. The workshop will go "behind the number" looking at the raw EEG trace, power spectral analysis and density spectral array.
Eleveld Model
9:30am - 12:30pm (Two separate rooms allocated for this workshop)
Workshop Tutors: Prof Anthony Absalom
During this workshop the facilitators will explain the background, rationale and development process of the Eleveld propofol model. The strengths and limitations will be discussed, as will pitfalls and practical tips for optimal use. To facilitate interaction attendees are encouraged to prepare questions, share their own experiences, and to interrupt the facilitator frequently.
TIVA for the FRCA
9:30am - 12:30pm
Workshop Tutors: Dr Thomas Mount
This workshop is aimed at anaesthetists yet to pass the FRCA, and will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of TIVA, pitched to both Primary and Final examinations. There will be plenty of additional exam tips revealed, to make passing the FRCA as easy as possible!
Friday 28th November 2025
TIVA Day-to-Day Use for Every Patient: Ask Anything
9:00am - 11:00am
Workshop Tutors: Dr Pnt Laloe & Dr Patrick Mullen
This clinical workshop provides interactive presentations from senior anaesthetists discussing intravenous propofol and remifentanil administration. Topics include drug pharmacology, TIVA strategies, and managing diverse adult patient populations. Discussion will focus on practical insights and tips, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency and patient-centred care. Novice to Proficient users welcome.
